Be patient. It may take a few false starts and lost bids for you to find the perfect house.
Make a list of “must haves” but keep an open mind.
Trust your instincts.
Find the right Lender as soon as possible. Everyone’s situation is different. Find someone who will lay out all of your options; It is critically important to know where you stand financially before making an offer on a home.
Pictures can be deceiving. Shopping for homes online is exciting but nothings better than seeing it in person. You may be pleasantly surprised.
Know your neighborhoods. Even if you don’t know them right away, get to know them. Drive around. At night. Walk the streets. Map out your commute time.
Do your due diligence. Once under contract, it never hurts to have the property evaluated by “too many” people (inspector, surveyor, engineer, etc)
There are no dumb questions; so don’t be afraid to ask any.
Always look in the crawlspace & the attic before making an offer.
Small changes like paint and finishes can make a big difference, so try to see past the gold formica countertops.
